In 2005 our organisation felt that the worst affected section of population due to rapid urbanisation is the women who has to grapple everyday with problems like water scarcity, solid waste management and health problems due to bad sanitary conditions.

Therefore we expanded its format and mandate and started working in the field of urban change management also. It was renamed as Foundation For Change Management. It has a diverse professional experience ranging from issues of Gender to the practical urban governance, city management, utility management, financial reform, political mobilization, social work, academic research, training, Human Resource Development.

FCM strives to work in areas which seek to meet the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations. The Foundation brings a combined skill set which blends the practical experience of governance issues with the rigor of academic research. It has been associated with various development initiatives across the country ranging from Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Chandigarh and North eastern India. It is working on Gender as well as innovative urban projects involving sector reform and Public Private Partnerships.

City managers in India lack the capacities to grapple with complex urban problems in a comprehensive manner. The key objective of the Foundation is to work with city managers and urban utility managers to weigh various reform options, develop a stakeholder consensus, identify thrust reform areas through rapid assessments, and then to provide handholding support for project formulation and implementation.

An associated objective is to document research findings gained through practical implementation and to build local capacities for a sustainable development trajectory. The Foundation is not a consulting company, but an organization which works closely with government institutions for change and reform, which is sustainable and affordable.
